New film Whispers in the Woods in premiere in Amsterdam IDFA

With great joy and pride FLAT // LAND announces the premiere of Vincent Munier’s new film WHISPERS IN THE WOODS at IDFA in Amsterdam.
Vincent Munier will be present on Tuesday November 18th at the seance of 17.45 hr.!!
After his famous movie The Velvet Queen (2021), in which Munier searched the Tibetan Plateau for the elusive snow leopard, the French wild life photographer and filmer now returns with a new nature film that is just as breathtaking and hopeful. This time he stays much closer to home, in the forests of the Vosges in France. Munier first came here as a teenager; it was here his father taught him about nature—how to look, and above all, how to listen.
Vincent’s son is now the same age he was at the time. We follow three generations of the Munier family in the vast forests. Waiting and watching, the silence broken only by their whispers. There are rutting deer and comical young owls. In the evening, by candlelight, they tell each other stories: the last time Grandpa saw a capercaillie, or a tall tale about a lynx. A joy to listen to and, luckily for us, accompanied by beautiful images.

Met groot plezier kunnen we mededelen dat Vincent Muniers nieuwste film Whispers in the Woods komende weken in premiere gaat bij de IDFA in Amsterdam.
Na zijn beroemde en met een Cesar bekroonde film The Velvet Queen (2021), waarin hij in het Tibetaans Hoogland op zoek ging naar de uiterst schuwe sneeuwluipaard, is hij terug met een nieuwe, even adembenemende en hoopvolle natuurfilm. Ditmaal zoekt hij het veel dichter bij huis, in de bossen van de Vogezen. Van jongs af aan was de jonge Vincent er al te vinden. Van zijn vader leerde hij er alles over de natuur: hoe te kijken, en vooral hoe te luisteren.
Inmiddels is Vincents zoon van de leeftijd die hij toen had. We volgen de drie generaties Munier in de uitgestrekte bossen. Wachtend en kijkend, de stilte slechts onderbroken door hun gefluister. Er zijn bronstige herten, koddige jonge uilen. ’s Avonds bij het kaarslicht vertellen ze elkaar verhalen. De laatste keer dat opa een auerhoen zag bijvoorbeeld, of een sterk verhaal over een lynx.
